Health & Physical Ed

Graduation Requirment 1.0 credit. Physical activity and an understanding of how the human body reacts to stress, injury and illness are taught in Health & PE courses. Weekly reports are used to evaluate a student's activity level and healthy habits of exercise can be developed as students learn to integrate healthy minds with healthy bodies.

(Note: an 'A' designation after the course name means first semester of curriculum and 'B' indicates the second semester.)

HPE 101 - Health & PE (Fall)
Description Grade 9 Requirement
This course involves an individualized exercise plan of 5, 30 minute workouts or a combined total of 2 1/2 hours of exercise a week. Students are responsible to develop a semester exercise plan as well as turn in a weekly exercise journal. In health, we will be looking at topics to include; First-Aid, Injury prevention, media influence and Purity - this involves a written paper.

HPE 201 PT - Personal Trainer (Fall)
Description Grades 10-12 PE Elective
Semester Course
This course involves an individualized exercise plan of 5, 30+ minute workouts or a combined total of 2 1/2 hours of exercise a week. Students are responsible to develop a semester exercise plan as well as turn in a weekly exercise journal. There will be a beginning and ending physical assessment. There are 13 articles that cover such topics as hydration, nutrition, year-round training programs, proper stretching, injury prevention and ways to improve your competitive performance.
